Tasmanian Hockey Centre

Hobart, Tasmania

Macquarie Builders were awarded the contract to build Tasmania’s premiere hockey facility in Hobart. The Centre was required to cater for all ages and standard of hockey players and for regional, interstate, national league and international test matches.

The stunning design is over two levels. The lower level comprises change-rooms, ice baths, medical facilities, storage and other players’ and officials’ amenities with direct level access to the two pitches. The upper level is devoted to spectators and includes 600 covered grandstand seats, corporate hospitality areas, kitchen, kiosk and a function room. The project involved building a precast concrete and steel structure between two existing hockey fields, which remained in use during the construction period.
